5.4.9 Extending the Degree Audit Object to the Cloud

The functionality described above hopefully illustrates the reusable power of an AOA object. The ultimate benefit of this object, however, is yet to be realized. That benefit comes when the Degree Audit object definition is defined as a Universal Object, allowing the audit to be shared across a variety of applications within an interconnected universe. Further experience will allow the base functionality to be enhanced and the universal architecture structure will allow extensions to that base to be added for special purposes.

It is finally in that universal architecture form that an object, such as degree audit, reaches its maximum potential for reusability. The AOA object contains most of the structure necessary to realize this potential. What must be added is an extension to the object structure that also publishes the structures for any AOA objects used within the transformation rules of the main object. Based on the current AOA object definition, that is a very reasonable task. The results will lead to that final objective of Universal Design Objects and a foundation for supporting rigorous applications within the cloud.
